Candied Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Sandwich

Nothing trumps summer tomatoes while we can still get them-except maybe candied Winchester Farm bacon!  Making candied bacon and whipping up the basil garlic mayo is a snap.

Enjoy the end of summer!



  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped finely
  • 3-4 basil leaves, sliced and chopped finely
  • One loaf soft sourdough bread
  • A couple of Winchester Farm slicer tomatoes
  • Head of fresh butter lettuce
  • 1lb bacon
  • 3T brown sugar
  • S & P to taste

Mix the mayonnaise, garlic and basil and stir to combine. Could also be blended in food processor.

Top the bread with green leaf lettuce and a juicy red tomato, sliced thick and seasoned liberally with salt and pepper.

Next add 2 slices of candied bacon. You could use regular fried bacon. But trust me, it’s worth the little bit of extra effort to make the candied bacon for this sandwich.
